What is it? It's a "why not" kind of project targeted at graphic designers.

It started because I really wanted to make a book, not the content of it or layout, just the book it self, but I couldn't think of anything to put in it. After pondering back and fourth for about seven minutes I decided to make it into somebody elses problem.
I sent out an email to around 50 graphic designers and asked them to make a page for my book following a set of guidelines. It worked! Over half of the people I sent an email to answered and sent me a page ... so now I have a bunch of stuff and I can make my book.
But since so many liked the idea (I was hoping to get a reply from around 5 people!) another idea came to my silly little head (I actually have a huge head!) ... wouldn't it be cool if this could be done again? So now, while I haven't even finished the first book, plans are in motion for Þe Búkk 2.
Below you can find info on how to get Þe Búkk, how to participate in Þe Búkk and how to find happiness and the meaning of life.

Þe Búkk currently holds the works of 25 people, some having a page, while others have four pages.

The given guideline was simple. The page had to be A6, black and white and if you used a font, you had to use Helvetica. Everything else was up the each person making the page.

These designers contributed to Þe Búkk:
Adalgeir Arnar Jonsson, Aslaug Ran Einarsdottir, Atli Hilmarsson, Birna Geirfinnsdóttir, Freymar Þorbergsson, Geir Helgi Birgisson, Gunnar Þor Vilhjalmsson, Gunnar Þorvaldsson, Helgi Pall Einarsson, Hermann Hjartarson, Hrafn Gunnarsson, Hordur Larusson, Jeff Ramsey, Kristin Petursdottir, Martin Dahlbeck, Nicole Nicolaus, Oscar Bjarnason, Petra Bender, Ragnar Freyr Palsson, Siggi Eggertsson, Sigurdur Orri Thorhannesson, Sol Hrafnsdottir, Steinar Juliusson, Troels Stabell Jorgensen and Victor Tarre.
What would be the point of all this if it would then just collect dust on my hard drive? Now through the miracle of modern science and cloning you can get a copy of the book. I will print and bind a few books and those who want one can buy it right here.

The price for a book is $20 (1300 ISK), and that includes shipping. I'm not trying to make money of this, the fee is simply to cover materials and shipping.
If you on the other hand want to pick it up and don't need shipping the price is $15 (1000 ISK).

To order a book simply send an email to bukk@larusson.com.

Same price for you who participated in the book and you who didn't.

Status: Layouting and printing.

Deadline: October 20th 2005
Do you wanna be in Þe Búkk 2? Well, so do I.
Everyone can be a part of Þe Búkk 2 ... or any Þe Búkk for that matter. Only requirement is that you work, study or breathe graphic design.

Rules are simple. You follow the rules. Thats about it. You can read the rules 260px to the right. Finish your design, send it and you're in.
Þe Búkk 2 rules:
The size is as before A6 (105mm x 148mm) and only color allowed is Black and white (not even grayscale!).

Like before you can do anything you want, but as a mutual starting point think candy.

All usable formats are accepted, but PDF would be nice.

If you have questions or finished designs, send them to bukk@larusson.com.
Boring info Are you skeptical? Who is this crazy person with the big head who thinks he's some kind of hotshot making a book? I don't blame you.
But like I said, this whole thing is only because I like books and I like making them. It's also fun to see how different people solve the same problems. Admit it, you like this stuff!
But it would be fun if you would send your design for Þe Búkk in and participate... it's free and fun.
